My Coaching Journey
I began my career as an EMT, drawn to the hands-on work, community involvement, and the opportunity to develop strong clinical skills. I thrived in the intensity of helping people in crisis, but the fast pace often left me wanting more time to connect with clients and address deeper issues like anxiety and depression.
That desire for deeper connection led me to substance use counseling, where I honed my listening skills and found fulfillment in helping others navigate challenges and find motivation for change. However, the sedentary office life proved too draining. I missed the energy and physical movement I’d experienced as an EMT.
One day, after a particularly challenging shift, I took a long walk through Greenwood Park. As I moved through the trees, my mind began to ease, and I felt a deep sense of calm wash over me. That moment became a turning point, revealing how healing movement and nature could be. I started wondering how this approach might help others, too.

I began doing “walk and talk” sessions with friends, combining my helping skills with the restorative power of nature and physical activity. The results were undeniable. After several meaningful conversations—and feedback like, “You should get paid for this!”—the idea for Flannel Cowboy began to take shape.
Launching Flannel Cowboy Life Coaching has allowed me to bring together the things I value most: authentic connection, movement, and the outdoors. It offers a holistic, down-to-earth path for people seeking clarity, growth, and a more grounded sense of well-being, while also giving me a way to work that feels fully alive and aligned with who I am.
